Meet: Amy, Product Development Manager at EcoVibe
Introduce yourself, Amy…
I live in Leeds with my husband and work here at Ecovibe, sourcing and developing new products.

Tell us about your eco journey…
I’ve always been interested in living a more sustainable life and conscious about my single-use plastic consumption, but it wasn’t until I started working at Ecovibe that I really began to think about
the impact lifestyle choices can have, and actually how easy it can be to switch to more sustainable products. I’ve also found that it’s saved me money as a lot of items are reusable and often much
more effective than their traditional counterparts.

I’m lucky that my job allows me to try lots of different products and find what works for me and my lifestyle. For example, I really wanted to use a natural shampoo, but it took me a while to find an
alternative to my usual brand that worked for my hair type.
I now try to use alternative sustainable products wherever I can throughout my home and in my self-care routine.

What are your favourite eco-products?
I love the compostable sponge! This is a prime example of an eco-friendly product that is better than the traditional version and more cost effective too – they last for ages!

As for my hunt for a shampoo alternative I absolutely love the awake shampoo which just needs water adding, its great for my sensitive skin.

I also really like the bamboo bedding. Bed sets are probably not something that first comes to mind when you think of sustainable living, but cotton contributes towards harming our planet and
bamboo is actually a great eco-friendly material – it feels luxurious against your skin and is more breathable and absorbent than cotton.
In terms of simple switches, things like water bottles, glass spray bottles and food storage are good buys as they’re reusable.

What’s your top eco-tips?
Start small, don’t try to change everything at once or you’ll get overwhelmed. A good thing to do is think about where you use the most single-use plastic and try to make a change there - for example if you have a pet, compostable dog poo bags are a great alternative to plastic.

If you’re not sure what to try first, the Simple Switch Kit is ideal as it has our top eco-essentials in one handy box for you to try.
