How to make your laundry routine eco-friendly

How to make your laundry routine eco-friendly

Getting through loads of laundry can have a pretty negative impact on the environment. But, we can’t just not wash our clothes, right?

There are actually a tonne of ways that we can make our laundry routine more kind on the planet, whilst also saving us some coins along the way.

Here, we go through tips on how to make your laundry routine eco-friendly, as well as introducing you to some of our most coveted eco-friendly laundry products.

Ditch The Dryer:

Tumble dryers eat up a tonne of energy, and they’re also a leading source of microplastic pollution in the air, a study finds.

Not only is air-drying your clothes so much better for the planet, it also boosts the scent of your freshly washed linen.

All of our laundry products are natural, and that means they’re accompanied with a delicate scent. The heat from the drying process can make the natural scents evaporate before you’ve had a chance to appreciate it.

We recommend drying your clothes outside on the washing line, or on a clothes horse next to a moderate heat source like a radiator. It’s easiest to switch by starting off small. Air dry ½ the amount that you’d usually pop in the dryer. Not only will this benefit the environment but you’ll notice a change in your energy usage, and your linen will transcend an extra fresh scent through your home.

The Eco-Egg:

Even if you haven’t used the Eco-Egg, you’ve probably heard about it.

The innovative product was featured on BBC’s ‘Shop Well for The Planet’, a show that gives tips on how to live a greener lifestyle and save money at the same time.

Switching from typical laundry detergent and fabric conditioner to the Eco-Egg can save up to 40 bottles per year! Pretty amazing, right?

Just one egg can last you up to 10 years! All you need to do is fill the egg with laundry pellets, which are made up from hypoallergenic natural minerals, and you’re good to go. Our refills usually last for about 50 washes.

Laundry Stain Remover:

Most store bought fabric stain removers are loaded with harsh chemicals that can irritate our skin and eyes. Pretty troublesome for a product that comes into such close contact with our bodies.

We’ve revolutionised the laundry game. Our Laundry Stain Remover is the non-toxic alternative to harsh chemicals. Made up of plant-based ingredients, our stain remover is vegan, cruelty-free and readily biodegradable ( this means it breaks down when it hits waterways, not harming aquatic life).

We love our laundry stain remover as it’s tough on stains, restores whites, and reveals radiant colours!Even better, it will  last you up to 66 washes!

Washing-Machine Cleaner:

It’s not just our clothes that need a good wash, after a number of cycles our washing machines need a little TLC themselves.

Giving your washing-machine a deep clean can actually help it keep running efficiently, by removing a build-up of liquid or powder, and also eliminating any nasty scents.

Our Washing-Machine Detox Tablets come in a pack of 6, just pop one in your machine and run it on its hottest cycle. We recommend doing this once a month to ensure your pipes stay clear and your drum smells fresh!
