Brand Spotlight: Ecover

Have you spotted the latest additions to our fantastic green cleaning collection? Don’t worry if not, we’ll catch you up! We’ve recently started stocking Ecover’s brand-new Toilet Cleaner and Washing Up Liquid, joining their top-selling eco-friendly laundry products at EcoVibe. We’re sure you’re going to love them, and we can’t wait to tell you more.

Why we brought Ecover’s products on board

Lots of household cleaners are based on toxic chemicals like phosphorous nitrogen, and ammonia, which are harmful to consume - both for humans and other animals and plants in the environment. When you use these nasty chemicals, in your toilets, sinks and dishwashers, the chemicals are eventually rinsed down the drain.

Sadly, not all the chemical contaminants are removed in wastewater treatments, building up to have a substantial and negative impact on the wildlife. Some compounds actually accelerate plant growth, which can lead to dense vegetation that interferes with animal life and eventually decays in equally massive quantities.

EcoVibe Cleaning Collecyion

EcoVibe's green cleaning collection features a range of eco-friendly cleaning products.

At EcoVibe, we want to create a cleaner, greener future. To help do this, we stock a large collection of sustainable cleaning product alternatives. Over the past couple of years since we started, lots of you have been in touch asking if we can stock an eco-friendly alternative for washing up liquid and toilet cleaners. We searched high and low, introducing our handmade Dish Washing Soap Bar to help you cut plastic and harsh chemicals from your washing up routines, alongside our Toilet Cleaner and Toilet Cleaning Bombs earlier this year.

While we had tonnes of amazing feedback, we knew some of you were still looking for more like-for-like liquid products. When our product wizard Amy discovered Ecover’s Toilet Cleaner and Washing Up Liquid, we knew they’d go down a storm with you folx! Their cleaners are made with renewable, plant-based ingredients that are fully biodegradable so you can get powerful cleaning without harming the planet, wildlife, or yourself.

But wait – they come packed in plastic?!

We hear what you’re saying, we’ve been badgering on about how harmful plastic can be for the planet since we started. The world is currently producing nearly 300 million tons of plastic each year – with an estimated 150 million metric tons currently circulating our oceans.

Luckily, Ecover’s Toilet Cleaner is packaged in polyethylene and polypropylene which although plastic, are 100% recyclable using a low energy process. This means that so long as you dispose of your empty containers sustainably with your household recycling collection, we can minimise our landfill waste.

Their Washing Up Liquid bottle packaging is even better. It’s made from 100% post-consumer recycled, 100% recyclable plastic. On top of this, they’ve redesigned the cap to reduce the amount of plastic needed for the design, saving an estimated 14 tonnes a year from our manufacturing process. By the end of this year, they’re aiming to make all their bottles like this.

For the cherry on top, Ecover is a fab, genuinely sustainable company to boot. They’ve got green factories in Belgium and France, and their new manufacturing facility in Chicago is expected to be the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum-certified plant in the industry – so we’re sure you can understand why we’re so excited to have partnered up with them.

Sound great? We think so too. If you want to make the swap today, check out our Ecover collection here.

To finish off, we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who got in touch with your product requests! Your feedback helps us to grow, enabling us to help you reduce your impact on the environment in the areas which are most accessible to you.
