Looking to overhaul your daily routine with sustainable alternatives in a big one-off purchase? Making a last-minute pit-stop for an eco-friendly birthday or Christmas gift that can’t wait until next payday? Our new buy now, pay later payment service with Clearpay can help you out.
We’ve had a couple of questions about the new service, and we wanted to help – check out our Clearpay FAQs.
What is Clearpay?
Clearpay is a payment service that allows us to offer out customers the ability to make purchases now and pay for them in later. It’s designed to offer flexible payments without the risk of getting into debt. The company sets spending limits based upon a customer’s previous usage of the service and charges no interest.
How does it work?
Clearpay offers simple installment plans for online shoppers, allowing a purchase to be paid for in four installments, due every 2 weeks.
Simply shop via our online store and choose Clearpay as your payment method at checkout. First-time shoppers provide payment details as usual, returning shoppers simply log in to make their purchase. It’s that easy!
After you check out, the goods will be shipped to you by EcoVibe. At any time, you can log in to your Clearpay account to see your payment schedule and make a payment before the due date. Otherwise Clearpay will automatically take the money from your debit or credit card every 2 weeks.
Who can use it?
To sign up with Clearpay you need to:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid and verifiable email address and phone number
- Use a UK bank payment card - Visa or Mastercard Debit or Credit Card
- Be capable of entering into a legally binding contract
- Have a verifiable and valid ID
- Be living in the UK (England / Wales / Scotland & Northern Ireland) No UK territories or British Forces Post Offices addresses are allowed, No Isle of Mann or Isle or Jersey or Isle of Guernsey addresses are allowed
When will my first payment be taken?
You will pay the first payment at the time you make the purchase with Clearpay.
Is Clearpay safe and secure?
Clearpay are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. They’re part of the Afterpay Touch Group, which is level 1 certified by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). This is the highest level of security in the payment industry.
Is there a cost for using Clearpay?
Clearpay does not charge a fee to shoppers when purchasing. The only fees applied to a shoppers account are late fees if your scheduled payments are unsuccessfully processed and, after being notified, you do not log in to your Clearpay account to make your payment via a different method.
If you have not made the payment before the due date, and the automatic payment fails, you have until 11pm the following day to make payment.
After 11pm the following day, if that payment has not been made, you will incur a late payment fee of £6 and a further late fee of £6 if the payment is not made within 7 days (as stated in our terms)
Doesn’t Clearpay make all of its money from late fees?
Clearpay make more money from people making payments on time than they do from missed payments or late fees.
Late payments are bad for their business and if you miss a payment, you can’t buy anything else with Clearpay until your account is settled. That is why they do everything possible to make sure you only buy what you can afford and avoid missing any payments including:
- Their late fees are low and capped so they can’t ever go higher
- They stop you purchasing once you’ve missed a payment so you can’t go deeper into debt
- And they use proprietary technology to stop people purchasing too much – including half of all first-time purchasers and 30 per cent of all purchase attempts
Can you imagine a credit company stopping you from going further into debt or buying more because you missed a payment?
Clearpay know their approach works because 78% of their community have never incurred a late fee and 93% of purchases are paid for exactly on time.
