Earth Day 2020

On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day today, we were expecting to be gathered together in a global movement for change. But instead, as we’re self-isolating, today feels a little like Mother Earth has told everyone to go to their rooms and think about what they’ve done.

It shouldn't take a global pandemic to make the Earth a better place to live, but in a way, it has shown us what's possible. Reduced traffic across the globe due to coronavirus has resulted in better air quality with lower CO2 and NO2 emissions; we’ve seen a whole new world for our urban wildlife; there’s more attention on our global wildlife trade after experts said coronavirus likely started in Chinese wet markets; and our water ways are clearer than ever.

Our daily behaviours have had to adapt in the face of this adversity too. That’s why we expanded our ranges (including adding Food & Drink, Gardening & kids activities and games) to help keep you happy and healthy at home while reducing the amount of emissions on the road. While we’re eager for some elements of life to return to ‘normal’, we desperately don’t want to lose these positive environmental changes we’ve seen across the world. That’s why we do what we do, after all, we’re hoping to help make the world a better, greener and cleaner place.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen how we can move together as a species in the face of threat; we do have the ability to make a massive transition. Let’s use this reset to evaluate what our core values are and where we want to develop our society going forward. We’re going to be making some pledges of our own to keep the good progress going, we’d love it if you could let us know what you plan to do too.

P.s. Just to let you know how much you’re doing for the earth; Since we started EcoVibe in late 2018, together we’ve replaced 40.13 tonnes of plastic, that’s roughly the same weight as eight African elephants! We couldn’t have done this without our fantastic customers, so thank you so much for your support.
